Welcome to Sagamore House,  built in 1852, a  beautiful example of the 'Texas-style ranch' built in the Greek Revival Style.  Originally the home of Henry Scott,  partner in the first commercial ice plant in Texas, and owned later by Thomas Jefferson Taylor II, brother of Lady Bird Johnson, as well as several other notable families who have worked to restore and maintain this National Historic treasure.

Located at 201 East Dixon Street in Jefferson's Historic District, the Sagamore House is a Recorded Texas Landmark, listed on the Register of Historic Places, and has been completely restored.  This property consists of two structures, the original house and a guest house.
The original house, pictured here has a 15'X40' combined Living Room and  Dining Room with 13' ceilings and, each with an old-brick wood-burning fireplace, original heart of pine floors and rich crown moldings, originally in the Missouri Governor's Mansion in Marshall, Texas, when the Governor was in exile there.  There are two bedrooms, one and a half updated bathrooms, a foyer, a  breakfast/sun room, and an updated kitchen.   The home has a state-of-the-art security system.
The Sagamore house was one of four of Jefferson's historic homes to be featured on the 2008 Candlelight Tour of Homes.
The guest house, a two-story structure built in 1997 in the style of the original, has one bedroom, one and one-half bathrooms, a kitchen-dining room and a living room with a working fireplace.  An enclosed garage with a laundry room is attached to the guest house.  Within the 8' tall wooden privacy fence are a gazebo for outdoor dining and three covered open-air porches, one of which is on the ground level outfitted with a deluxe Hot Spring hot tub.
The property is shaded by one-hundred-fifty-year-old Pecan trees.
